FOR CUSTOMS AND EXCISE AND VARIOUS POLICE FORCES
The Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster RYA theory
certificate
This course aims to give you the necessary theoretical background to prepare
you for the practical DoT/RYA exam. It covers navigation techniques,
chartwork, tidal predictions, pilotage, meteorology and the International
Regulations for the Prevention of Collisions at Sea.
The Practical Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster preparation
courses & RYA/DoT Exam
You can undertake this course to qualify in either Sail or Power yachts. The
aim is to prepare you for the exam by refining your boat handling, pilotage
and navigational skills. All the time working alongside your team-mates on
the course who are also preparing for the same exam.
The International Certificate of Competence/Day Skipper
RYA
This course is for crew who have the seamanship side of running a boat
sorted, but need to develop their skippering and boat handling techniques.
It is also essential for skippering your own boat in some European
countries.
Efficient Deck Hand
This covers handling of warps, throwing Monkey's Fists, use of winch gear
and small Deck Cranes.
Diesel Engine RYA
The diesel course covers primary diagnosis of faults and maintenance on
engines up to 500hp. This is primarily aimed at Mates and Crew using the
yacht's tenders.
First Aid RYA/DoT
This 1-day RYA/DoT Small Craft First Aid Certificate aims to give everyone
an introduction to dealing with basic emergency situations.
Sea Survival RYA/DoT
This covers drills for abandonship, use of safety equipment and survival in
a liferaft. This certificate is mandatory for all commercial skippers and it
is highly recommended that all crew have also attended the course.
New VHF/DMSS RYA/DoT
Radio Licence
All users of VHF's must hold this certificate by law. It is extremely easy
to pass the exam either with a short course or some self study.

best classroom facilities in the UK, or if you wish we can run customized
versions for you at your own base/yacht in the Mediterranean.
